Truth And Transformation
Book 2 in my Taking Wonderland series
To all authors out there in Substack land, you know how this feels. After years of writing, re-writing, working with your editor and layout folk, finalising the cover and hovering by the door awaiting the proofs – the day arrives. Your baby is going out into the world naked and ill-prepared. Will your beloved offspring be embraced, ridiculed, loved, or worst of all, ignored?
My newborn, Truth and Transformation, will arrive kicking and screaming into the world on February the 27th. The first book in the series was very well received, which keeps the nervous flutters under some degree of control, and my heartfelt thanks to everyone who not only embraced it, but gave it such wonderful views on Amazon and Goodreads. Yet, oddly, the warm reception for the first book has added a new flavour note to the cocktail of anxiety, and that’s a fear of disappointing the fans of book one.
Nevertheless, the day is almost here, the book has been loaded up on the Amazon store, advance copies are out with reviewers and a large print run has gone to the distributors so it will be available in all the book stores here in New Zealand.
This time I have decided to make some promotional noise for the second book. I was a total coward with the release of book one, I went under the radar in almost every way with no launch, no press and no promotion. I think it was a safeguard against my fear of failure. My rational being that if no-one liked it, then no-one would share it or talk about it, and I could quietly pull it from the shelves, pretend it never happened, and curl up into a fetal ball of abject self-pity for a few months before taking up lawn bowls.
So, emboldened by the positive reception to the first book, I am launching book 2 with a mini fanfare at the Weta Cave here in Wellington, New Zealand on February 27th, and book will be available that day on Amazon for both paperback and Kindle.
Those of you familiar with book one will notice the new cover. I’ll be talking about that decision, and covers in general, in another post very soon.
